The 8th Governing Board of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) has been inaugurated in Accra. The newly inaugurated Governing Board (GB), which is under the Presidency of Benjamin K. Botwe, shall be responsible for the overall governance of the Society subject only to the constitution of the PSGH. The term of office will expire in 2021.

The event which took place on Saturday 23rd November, 2019 at the PSGH Secretariat ushered in several members who are serving on the GB for the first time. This is the second term of President Botwe’s administration, and the new composition of his Governing Board will afford his presidency the advantage of relying on the experience of incumbent GB members and relishing the fresh ideas of the new entrants.

All GB members were inducted into office by President Botwe with the support of Vice President Yvonne Esseku (Esq). Copies of the signed oaths of office were handed over to the Executive Secretary. The President congratulated all GB members for the confidence reposed in them by their constituents. He tasked members to be accountable not only to PSGH, but to their member constituents as well. He underscored the need for GB to ensure that the PSGH attains the objectives of the Society as set out in Article 2 of the PSGH constitution as well as oversee the implementation of approved strategies and policies. He further tasked GB to ensure the proper and efficient mobilization, control and supervision of the finances and assets of the Society.

President Botwe reminded GB that the work of the PSGH relies heavily on its Committees. He therefore invited members to nominate qualified, competent and willing members to serve on the Society’s statutory and ad hoc committees. After exhaustive discussions, the new GB proposed names of members to serve on various committees of the PSGH for 2019 – 2021. (A full list of all committees and their members will be published once they are sworn into office.)

President Botwe expressed hope that with the unique diversity of the new GB, he believed the drive of proactive leadership would be able to stay up to task and strive to be effective, productive and efficient in all proceedings.
