Tag All Community Pharmacies With The Ghana Post Digital Address by March 2019 – Pharmacy Council

The Pharmacy Council has issued a directive to the effect that all Community Pharmacies are to mandatorily tag their facilities with the Ghana Post Digital Property Address. The directive further states that all pharmaceutical facilities are to mandatorily obtain the Ghana Post Digital Property Address tag by 31st March, 2019 or face regulating sanctions. These directives were contained in a letter addressed to the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) and signed by the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council.

The Ghana Post Digital Property Address is a global addressing system, which divides Ghana into grids of 5m x 5m squares and assigns each one a unique address, known as a digital address. With this system, every land and property gets a permanent address.

The Pharmacy Council’s directive is pursuant to a directive from the Ministry of Communications on the Digital Address System and in accordance with the Inspections and Enforcement Policy of the Pharmacy Council. Proprietors and owners of Community Pharmacies are, thereby, enjoined to visit the nearest Ghana Post Office to obtain and affix the tag on the entrance of their facilities at a fee of Fifty Cedis (GHC 50.00) payable to the Ghana Post Company.
